Let’s get it out on the table and say it like it needs to be said. I’m an advertising copywriter and web copy specialist, and I say…

Content is NOT king.

I used to say it is, but no longer. I was thinking about it from the wrong perspective, and I suspect many of you are, too. If content is king, then refined, white sugar is good for you. Partially hydrogenated fats are, too.

No, it’s not a matter of filling up the white space with chunks of content. If that’s all it took, the New York Times wouldn’t be losing subscribers so quickly and selling their offices.

So…you may be asking…well, if content ain’t king, who or what is?

I’m glad you asked. The short answer (and a word I love) is…quality. Language, communication, the arts, and media may go through fads and even trends. But one thing separates the short term content from the lasting content: you guessed it…quality. Quality tells the content who’s boss.

I’m not talking about prosaic, poetic masterpieces…although they have their places in the world of quality. I’m talking about objective, inherent, observable quality.

And it comes through not only in the way the words flow together into well-expressed thoughts. But also the way the words work for their master, or in other words, the person or company putting them to use. If the quality of the words is there in readability as well as the successful results of the content, bingo! Somebody wins.

If a website, autoresponder, email, direct mail piece, or even simple letter is just thrown together for the sake of filling up the space, (buzzer noise)….can you say “air ball”? Or “lead balloon”?

There are a million places to get cheap “content” for your business or website nowadays. And there are dozens of ways to lose money by going that route. This isn’t a defense of my extremely high fees (because they’re not really). It’s an explanation of why you need to know Quality is King.

Stay tuned,

P.S.  Quality web copy from a creative web copy specialist will end up costing you much less in the long run. Of course, I’m going to tell you that’s me. But make me prove it. We can both benefit. Contact me, today.

How To Make a Zillion Dollars in Only 7 Hours

This is gonna blow your mind.

You won’t believe how simple, fast, and how illuminating this information will be.

It’s gonna clear your head, calm your nerves, and set you on the right path to internet marketing. And the best news is…

I’m gonna reveal this secret for FREE!

And I’m not gonna try to sell you anything related to this…EVER.

And I won’t ask you for your email address, phone number, snail mail address, social security number, first-born child, paid off mortgage, or anything else. Again…EVER.

How can I make this claim? And not ask for a dime?

Simple.

Making a zillion dollars in 7 hours can’t be done. And most of the things you read about online where they mention other huge sums of money can’t be done either…not in 7 hours.

You know what works?

You.

And if you work diligently and keep your eye on the prize (which is different for each individual), you can make a very nice living with internet marketing. I know because it’s working for me. It didn’t come quickly, magically, suddenly, or secretly.

I just haven’t taken my eyes off the prize…which, for me, was to have a successful business working from my own computer in my own office in my own home. If you want to do it, I’ll let you in on a little secret. (hint: it’s not a secret…the secret’s out). You can do it, too.

It only takes 3 things…You, your idea (which you turn into a product) and a way to plug it in online.

If you’d like to work with a “creative advertising copywriter” who can help you plug you and your ideas into the internet marketing world, contact me.

Be forewarned though…I’m expensive, cantankerous, manipulative, domineering, “cuter than a box of puppies”, and ornery. Only part of that’s true, and you’ll have to get in touch with me to find out which part.

OK…enough of the self-promotion…now, it’s back to work, and you do the same.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stay tuned,

Build trust and build business

What’s the one thing your business needs to avoid failure?

Is it…

  • great customer service?
  • Great products?
  • On time delivery?
  • Creativity?
  • Outside-the-box thinking?
  • All of the above?
  • None of the above?

If your answer was “none of the above”, give yourself a gold star and go to the head of the class. All of those things are essential for a successful business, but you can have all those things and still fail for lack of one thing…

People
(translate that into customers or clients or patrons or whatever applies)

If you pride yourself on great customer service, but there aren’t any customers to serve…
If you have the greatest products, but no one to sell them to…
If your delivery time is second-to-none, but there’s no where to go…
You fail.

And even if you’re the most creative-outside-the-box thinker and strategist, but you don’t have “people” in the mix…game over.

With all the hype on the internet and all the get rich plans and schemes available in the world, you’d think just about everybody would be a millionaire by now. Wouldn’t you? You probably already know why those plans don’t pan out. Because we don’t trust ‘em…which is just good judgement.

No…when it comes to building wealth or building a business or even building a building, the old story of the tortoise and the hare still holds true. Slow and steady wins the race. It’s not glamorous. It’s not “sexy”. It’s not thrilling. It just works. Why?

Because slow and steady builds trust. And if you’re in business for “the long haul”, you must build trust. It’s not an option because nowadays your customers or clients have tons of options. You don’t want them to pick one of those other options and drive away, or click away. And if you build the trust they need, they won’t.

How do you build trust in this world of hype and flash?

First…get in front of the right people. Guys who buy flies for fly fishing aren’t interested in your latest threads for cross stitching. Ladies who buy designer shoes don’t care how good you sing da blues.

Once you’ve found your people, find out what they want, and give it to them. And be the best possible choice. And be there for them with information, free help, access to resources, and all the other options they’ll be looking for. You be their source, their guide, the one place they place their trust.

Bingo…you’re building trust…like a real person (or business) with real people who need what you have. Then…don’t stop. Show them you’re not just trying to sell them something, but that you’ll be there for them day in / day out. Slow and steady…win your race.

Stay tuned,
