Professional Writer In The Web?
I’ve been writing in some form or another since I was in junior high. When I was very young, new, and just starting out I’d write everything I could think of. And most of the time I was copying a style I found in the interesting books and poetry I was reading at the time.
Especially when it came to poetry, I’d work diligently to write like T.S. Eliot or Carl Sandburg or Robert Frost, Keats, or Yeats. And I never really achieved my goal…which is good.
If I had succeeded in copying their style without creating my own, the best I could hope for is to be a hack. Oh sure, we all “rob” a little from those who came before us, but taking their style and calling it your own? Not very original.
And so it goes on the good ol’ internet. It’s amazing how much copying gets done. Particularly when it comes to business writing. So many writers and bloggers are excellent copycats…but not very good at original copy or content. The good news is…the really good ones will stand out more because of this.
As a professional writer I’m determined to find what works on the internet and write original material to fit my clients’ needs. And I’m also determined to get them the best search engine results I can. After all, what good is even the best original writing if no one ever sees it?
