Say What You Need To Say…Not What Someone Else Says
Think about this for just a second, and see if you can quickly fill in the blanks…
I can appeal to my target market because I’m _____, and they’re _____.
Define yourself with your personality, and define your target market by knowing who they are before you even start.
Do you think for a minute there’s anyone out there more qualified to talk about you than…you? No? Exactly. So, why would you want to “swipe” files from some copy guru or some internet marketer’s website? Well, you might be thinking…”but they all say not to re-invent the wheel”.
While it’s true that you don’t have to come up with some brilliant new widget to make your living in the business world (online or offline)…I suggest it’s much better when you’re being original in your pitch. Think about the well-known writers for business, internet, ad agencies, and marketing launches. What do they have in common? Originality. The good news is this: you’re already original. Now take your original self, mix it into the marketing persona only you can present, and market the heck out of it.
Henry Ford didn’t succeed because he was another great Chrysler. Bill Gates didn’t succeed (wildly) because he was another great computer geek. These guys took their own ideas, mixed in proven successful techniques, and created original ideas, products, and services that changed their industries.
You don’t have to change an industry to be successful…especially online, but you do need to be yourself. Don’t be a copycat. And don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo for supremacy. You might just surprise yourself with your self.
Stay tuned,
P.S. And if you’d prefer to build your products and fine tune your services while leaving the writing to a web copy specialist, then I suggest you hire me. I work to tell your story in an original way and in a way to get your website better search engine results. Email me here…or if you prefer, call me at 303.988.6188
