Content Marketing
I Read About Some Content Marketing Trends…
…and I compared ’em to what I’ve been doing online since 1997. At the risk of tooting my own horn, I have to say I’ve been on the right track all along. Here’s the top five trends I found…
1. Marketers Must Brand
Since your competitors have access to all the same cool online marketing tools you have, you’d better find a way to make your voice stand out. My multimedia strategy does a good job of this.
2. Content Marketing Needs To Focus On Higher Quality
There are thousands (maybe 10’s of thousands) of content writers and content factories. But if your business is gonna stand out, it’s gonna need a quality writer. Businesses are shifting to writers with originality and/or someone who either really knows the subject or is an excellent researcher. Do I hear that horn tooting again?
3. Social Media For Link Building
If your creative content writer can take your long sales copy or web copy and scale it down to social media “sound bites”, those can become valuable links for you. Content marketing in 140 characters ties in nicely with my 15, 30, and 60 second jingle writing experience…not to mention my knowledge of setting up social media channels…but I mentioned it anyway. 🙂
4. Longer (and engaging) Articles
Your brand and your authority can soar with quality storytelling. By that I mean the full story. Maybe the story behind the scenes…or the story of overcoming obstacles against all odds. Storytelling can build trust with your audience…and this can help increase conversions. By the way…I’ve written several ebooks. I love to tell stories. I’m just sayin’…
5. Multimedia
Bingo! My favorite. You may have noticed that almost everyone on the planet is a photographer nowadays. Well, not really…but they do have cameras. And everyone loves to send and receive pictures. You may have also heard of a little site called YouTube. Yeah, video is pretty darn popular too. I’ve been creating and providing multimedia content for 15 years online. That’s a very long time in web time. My original foray into multimedia was creating Flash videos and writing scripts and music for them. And this was when a huge amount of the web surfers were still using dial-up. Yikes.
So…
If the studies about content marketing trends are true, (horn toot please) you’d be in good hands to work with me when you need a content writer. And that’s not just my opinion…
