Who is the mother of invention?
You know the answer, right? Of course! Necessity is the mother of invention. When a big enough need or problem arises, there’s almost always someone around to invent a solution. And that’s how jobs are “created”. Out of the need to solve problems. One big problem is how data has been hacked so many times…even in companies you wouldn’t think could be hacked. The solution (invention) has been the cybersecurity business.
Everyone appreciates the mother of invention. But…
…prevention (cybersecurity) appears to have only step-mother status right now. According to some stats I just read on LinkedIn, “By 2022, there will be 265,000 more data-security jobs than skilled workers.”
Wow! Over a quarter of a million jobs with no one to fill ’em. Why? Well, cybersecurity ain’t sexy. That’s for sure. In fact, it’s got five syllables in it, and that makes it sound too tough to tackle. But imagine…let’s say you’re a young person who discovers going against the grain is often the best choice. And you dive into cybersecurity with enthusiasm. Then, you discover some cool ways to make it better. Some problems that haven’t been solved yet.
Each problem becomes a mother of invention. And you become the doctor who delivers the baby…the solution(s). What do you think businesses would pay you to deliver those solutions for them, too? See how serving others can put you in a position to move past a mere “J.O.B.”?
There’s nothing wrong with having a job you love. But chances are good you’ll love the pay increase you give yourself when you find a thirsty crowd and give them a drink from your golden goblet.
